Oral health is an important part of general health.
Oral hygiene is an integral part of personal hygiene.
Preventive and comprehensive dental care is preferable to crisis care.

Why is oral health important?
Oral health is an important factor in quality-of-life. At a minimum, we must aim to keep children free from pain and infection, particularly if they lack the ability to adequately communicate their feelings. Beyond that though, oral health is important for personal interaction. Your child's smile helps them to reach out and communicate with others. We should aim to reduce the stigmatisation associated with bad teeth and bad breath. As much as possible, we would like to normalise their experience of dental visits and ensure that they can access mainstream care.
